Jamaica on target for best ever winter tourist season
Jamaica expects to announce a record-breaking winter season of arrivals and tourism spending.
Minister of tourism, Edmund Bartlett says Jamaica is on track for the best ever winter tourist season, which runs through April.
Based on current estimates, it will have received about 1.5 million visitors with overnight visitors at 900,000, a winter season record.
"Earnings are going to break all records this year because this is now going to be the largest winter in the history of Jamaica," he said.
"March is trending as the biggest month ever in our history with 34,000 more visitors in the single month of March than this time last year."
Overall Jamaica is on target to reach close to five million arrivals for the year, with tourism-related spending at about $4 billion.
