Jamaica records best ever month for arrivals in September

Jamaica recorded the best ever month in September 2015, with stop over arrivals up 7.0% compared to a year ago.

Jamaica’s minister of tourism and entertainment, Wykeham McNeill said 114,000 arrivals were recorded in September and contributed to 5.5% growth for all arrivals year to date.

"We have achieved this growth even while a number of properties are closed for room expansion and refurbishing," McNeill said.

"If you have 20,000 rooms and 1,000 are out of commission and you are still growing arrivals then you must be doing something right."

Jamaica has gained an additional 50,000 seats on air routes out of the US for the winter season with new flights by Frontier Airlines from Philadelphia, American Airlines out of Los Angeles and Southwest Airlines’ new route from Houston.

"We have 2500 new rooms being built in Jamaica as we speak. At no time in the history of Jamaica have we had that level of investment in Jamaica," McNeill added.
