Jamaica Tourist Board names director
Basil H. Smith has been appointed director of tourism of the Jamaica Tourist Board after an extensive local and international search.
Smith, a Jamaican national, will start his term on November 1.
He earlier served as deputy director of tourism for the JTB from 1995-1997 and is currently serving as senior director, communications, worldwide for The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.
He was formerly executive vice-president of the Bahamas Hotel Association from 2001-2003.
Donnie Dawson, currently serving as interim director, will continue in that role until Smith assumes office.
