Japanese hot spring resort operator eyes US expansion
A Japanese hospitality group known for its luxury hot spring resorts is planning to bring the concept to the US mainland. Hoshino Resorts, which operates the high-end Hoshinoya resort band, says it sees potential in the US, company CEO Yoshiharu Hoshino told Bloomberg TV.
It plans to scout for suitable locations once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides. The company has a resort in Hawaii.
"My personal goal is to bring traditional Japanese hot spring resorts to North America. There are so many hot spring resources in the US," Hoshino said. It operates 43 properties in Japan and opens its first resort in China later this year.
