Jersey receives £20m tourism investment
An “unprecedented” investment in Jersey’s tourism will see £20 million spent in the next 12 months.
A five-star boutique hotel at a cost of £7 million heads the investment. Huggler Hotels plans a 46-room property featuring a spa, treatment areas, relaxation room and outdoor swimming pool adjacent to an existing 3 AA Rosettes restaurant.
A new wing of suites is to be added to the Hotel de France offering 31 rooms as part of an £8 million development. A swimming pool complex is to be built together with a gym and leisure facilities including a spa with 10 treatment rooms.
Seymour Hotels is to refurbish family hotel the Merton and completion renovation work at the Pomme d’ Or at a combined cost of £5 million.
More than £2 million is to be spent on waterfront development in St Helier, creating an area with restaurants ad cafes.
Finally, Dolan Hotels plans complete refurbishment of the Cristina Hotel and a room upgrade at the Somerville Hotel overlooking St Aubin’s harbour.
The island’s tourism and marketing director David De Carteret said: “The amount of investment committed by our tourism industry partners is unprecedented and demonstrates the level of confidence they have in Jersey as a leisure destination.”
