Jet2.com and Jet2holidays celebrated the launch of Liverpool flights as it officially inaugurated its 11th UK base airport – Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

It comes just days after it announced its 12th UK base at Bournemouth Airport.

The full flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport departed to Tenerife last week.

This inaugural flight was followed by another full Easter flight to Lanzarote.

The first day of operations at the airport included a red-carpet welcome and personalised gifts.

There was also a Beatles tribute band entertaining holidaymakers as they jetted off.

One customer received a seven-night family holiday to Tenerife, while the first ten holidaymakers to check-in at the airport were given a pair of Jet2.com flight vouchers.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have a total of 20 destinations on sale for summer 2024 from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

There are Liverpool flights to Mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.

The flying programme includes six destinations that are exclusive to Jet2.com and Jet2holidays – Gran Canaria, Menorca, Rhodes, Zante, Madeira and Bourgas (Bulgaria).

The Liverpool flight programme represents 565,000 seats on sale and up to 54 weekly flights during peak periods.

So far, the two companies report strong demand for flights and holidays from Liverpool John Lennon Airport

John Irving, CEO Liverpool John Lennon Airport, said: “This is an important milestone as we welcome the first of many passengers jetting off on Jet2.com and Jet2holidays’ departures.”
