Jet2 is launching flights from Blackpool to Alicante in the spring, its fourth route from the Lancashire airport and its third to Spanish destinations.

Twice-weekly services will start on April 7 and operate on Monday and Friday. Frequency will be increased “in the coming months”, according to the airline.

Jet2 only began operations from Blackpool on November 4 with a Belfast service. It has since announced that services to Murcia and Palma will be launched in April.

Chief executive Philip Meeson said more routes will follow in the new year.
