Jet2 takes dig at rival and vows to retain ‘friendly’ approach to hand baggage
Jet2 has vowed to retain its two-bag cabin rule as it sought to exploit the backlash over easyJet’s move to scale back its hand luggage allowance.
The airline-operator said it would continue what it described as its ‘friendly’ approach by permitting two pieces of hand luggage as standard.
Passengers were ‘loud and clear’ that such a policy was of value, Jet2 said.
The pledge is a thinly-veiled dig at easyJet which has reduced the size of permitted luggage. The company said smaller hand luggage will improve the boarding experience and ensure punctuality.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, Chief Executive Steve Heapy said: "Customer feedback tells us loud and clear that they really value our friendly hand luggage policy, which enables them to pack more into their cabin baggage without having to pay extra.
"In line with that I am pleased to report that Jet2.com will not charge customers for their cabin baggage allowance. We know how important this is to them, and this announcement demonstrates how we continue do everything we can to make sure that customers enjoy their holidays whilst giving them the best value possible."
