JetBlue drops Miami in latest cost cutting measures
JetBlue Airways is pulling out of Miami and making significant cuts to flight service at Seattle Tacoma Airport.
The airline is eliminating service at Miami with immediate effect, noting high operational costs and its large footprint at nearby Fort Lauderdale Airport, which is a focus city.
This is part of its ongoing restructuring efforts to slash costs.
At Seattle, the airline is reducing service to only on a seasonal basis, mostly for peak travel periods.
In addition, it will park four Airbus A320 aircraft and significantly cut less popular midweek flight frequencies.
The airline already announced some executive leadership roles will be combined to cut further costs.
The airline recently said it will miss break-even this year and will continue cutting unprofitable routes.
The airline has remained in the red since the Covid pandemic.
