JetBlue flags ‘busy summer’ ahead as it calls back flight attendants

Optimistic of a busy summer season ahead for travel, JetBlue has started calling back flight attendants on extended leave of absence.

JetBlue is calling back crew members earlier than planned as it ramps up its flight schedules for summer.

It sent out a memo for flight attendants to report back a month early to attend training.

"As we enter a new phase of the pandemic with case counts going down and vaccination rates going up, our focus is now getting ready to safely ramp up operations for a busy summer season," the memo said, CNBC reported.

It wants them back in training next month in another sign of growing confidence the industry is on the verge of a meaningful rebound.

Federally-mandated training begins on 22 April.

"Crewmembers are critical to our recovery opportunity," JetBlue said.

The airline has announced sweeping changes to routes, fare and fee structures to lure more people back in the air.

The Transportation Security Administration said it screened a pandemic high number of travelers this past weekend, and there is optimism it will continue through the busy spring break season.
