JetBlue flight quarantined in measles false alarm
A JetBlue flight that arrived at New York JFK was temporarily quarantined after a measles scare.
Passengers were held onboard after it landed from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic over concerns a boy show signs of contracting the highly contagious disease.
The boy, who had already been vaccinated, was assessed by a medic and eventually cleared.
Other passengers speaking to local media speculated fears were raised due to his visible mosquito bites.
Others took to social media to call out the airline for unfairly profiling the Orthodox Jewish boy.
"After reports of a potential medical concern onboard, flight 410 from Santo Domingo to JFK, was requested to hold for medical services out of an abundance of caution so a customer could be examined," a JetBlue spokesperson said.
"All customers were cleared and deplaned normally."
According to CDC data, the number of measles cases in the US is at its highest level in 25 years.
Typical measles symptoms include a rash, high fever, coughing and watery eyes.
