JetBlue launching Florida flights from BWI
JetBlue Airways will launch double daily flights from Baltimore/Washington to Fort Lauderdale later this year.
A new route for JetBlue, the service will begin in November but details of the launch date have yet to be announced.
"JetBlue is a terrific airline, widely known for its customer service and value. The added service will offer our customers convenience and further options," said airport spokesman Jonathan Dean.
In a news release JetBlue said it would "give Maryland and Washington area residents a convenient option to get away and enjoy many of South Florida’s premier leisure destinations, as well as the ability to connect on to JetBlue’s diverse network throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America."
The carrier first began flights at BWI in 2009, connecting the DC area with its Boston hub.
"Since beginning Baltimore flights in 2009, JetBlue has become the preferred option for travelers between BWI and Boston," said Scott Laurence, JetBlue senior vice president of airline planning.
"We’re expanding upon our successful foundation at BWI and will be providing the award-winning JetBlue experience for customers traveling to Florida and points south."
