The U.S. Virgin Islands is getting more airlift from the New York area staring this summer.

JetBlue will launch service from Newark to Cyril E. King Airport on St. Thomas beginning 1 July as part of its Northeast Alliance partnership with American Airlines.

It will run four times a week and flight reservations are now open.

As part of the alliance, JetBlue is ramping up service from Newark to the Caribbean with several new routes such as Antigua, Puerto Rico, Haiti and Saint Lucia.

"Our alliance with American opens the door for JetBlue to successfully enter into new markets, introducing more choices and low fares to more customers," said Scott Laurence, head of revenue and planning, JetBlue.

The two airlines are launching more than 30 new routes during the first phase of its partnership.

Joseph Boschulte, Commissioner of Tourism for the U.S. Virgin Islands welcomed the flights and said the Northeast US is a ‘critically important’ market.

Demand remains strong especially as the USVI is a sovereign territory and no Covid test is required for a return flight to the US mainland.
