JetBlue still mulling transatlantic flight launch
JetBlue Airways is still weighing a transatlantic flight launch, as speculation continues that an announcement could be made as early as next month.
Chief commercial officer Marty St. George said executives are still making a business case for a potential launch of flights to London from New York and Boston.
Speaking at the JP Morgan conference in New York, St. George said JetBlue is ’emboldened’ by the growth and success of its premium Mint product which could make it commercially feasible.
The lucrative business market underpins a successful transatlantic service, as struggling low cost leisure airlines like Norwegian Air and Wow Air have found to their cost.
A key consideration is whether JetBlue can secure slots at London Heathrow.
It is thought JetBlue could announce launch details at an event with employees on April 10.
