JetSMART takes delivery of 50th jet
South America based low-cost carrier JetSMART has just taken delivery of its 50th aircraft.
It was the final one of four leased A320neo family jets from Avolon.
The four aircraft on lease from Avolon will support the replacement and growth of JetSMART’s current narrowbody fleet.
JetSMART flies to over 50 destinations from its hubs in Chile, Argentina, Peru and Colombia.
According to IATA, passenger demand in the Latin America and Caribbean region was up 7.2% year to date in October.
The A320neo delivers 20% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft, and 50% noise reduction.
Paul Geaney, President and Chief Commercial Officer of Avolon, said: “We are excited to share this milestone with JetSmart and celebrate their phenomenal growth story since their launch in 2016.”
Estuardo Ortiz, CEO of JetSMART, added: “The addition of these new-technology aircraft enhances our operational efficiency and gives us the flexibility to expand our network.”
