Jetstar cutting NZ flights due to sky high fuel costs

Wednesday, 25 Mar, 2026 0

Jetstar is cutting trans-Tasman flights between Australia and New Zealand as a direct result of the rising cost of oil.

The Qantas Group budget brand says it will reduce flights to Auckland from Sydney and Brisbane by around 12% from May.

The airline says all impacted passengers have been notified.

Jetstar said they have been offered alternative travel with most given options for travel on the same day as their original booking.

“We have made some temporary changes to our schedule, including due to a rise in jet fuel prices and other rising costs,” Jetstar NZ said.

Jetstar’s domestic New Zealand services from Auckland to Christchurch and Wellington will also be reduced.
