Jetstar increases carry-on bag allowance for a fee
Budget carrier Jetstar has tweaked its carry-on baggage policy, now offering an increased allowance of 10kg.
It represents an increase of 3kg per flyer from the current 7kg, but comes at a price.
Customers on starter fare tickets now pay a fee starting at A$13 for the extra allowance.
FlexiBiz fare customers already have a free 10Kg allowance.
Jetstar Group chief customer officer Catriona Larritt sees the policy change as offering more customer choice rather than simple nickel and diming.
"Customers told us they’d like the option to carry more on board so we’re pleased to be able to offer them the option to purchase an extra three kilos,” Larritt said.
The 7kg allowance is valid for up to two items of hand baggage.
