Jetstar launches Hobart flights from Newcastle
Jetstar has landed in Hobart, officially launching a new route from Newcastle.
It says the brand-new connection is set to boost two-way tourism.
It was the first of three weekly return services linking the Hunter Region with Tasmania.
The new seasonal service runs until 21 April 2026 on Jetstar’s A320 fleet, providing more than 22,000 seats on the route this season.
The launch comes weeks after Jetstar restarted international flying from Newcastle.
It offers four flights a week to Bali with one stop connections to Singapore.
This growth combined with Jetstar’s four existing domestic routes to Brisbane, Cairns, Gold Coast and Melbourne means the airline now operates more than 770,000 seats a year in and out of Newcastle.
Jetstar’s Executive Manager Commercial, Lyle Brownscombe, said: “This is the first time Newcastle and Hobart have ever been connected by air, and we’re thrilled to be making this route a reality.”
