Jetstar launching new Indonesia, Vietnam routes
Budget airline Jetstar Asia is launching two new routes from its Singapore hub to the Indonesian island of Sumatra.
The carrier will kick off flights to the cities of Palembang and Pekanbaru beginning 29 October and 5 November respectively.
"We are delighted to welcome the new routes between the two countries. Having more affordable flights from Singapore to Palembang and Pekanbaru will also mean greater convenience for travellers," said Indonesian tourism minister Arief Yahya.
The new routes adds to Jetstar’s growing Indonesia network from Singapore which includes Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya and Bali.
Both routes will be operated by Jetstar’s 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft and tickets are now open for sale.
Jetstar also announced a second route in Vietnam, with the start of flights to Da Nang from 27 November.
All three new routes will fly three times a week.
"Indonesia and Vietnam are two of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia and with the opening of their domestic aviation markets we’ve seen a growth in demand for new low fare travel opportunities," said Jetstar Asia CEO Bara Pasupathi.
