Jetstar names the day for Osaka
CAIRNS – Jetstar will launch its four times weekly service between Osaka and Cairns on April 1 next year.
Over 12 months the service will provide almost 63,000 inbound seats.
Chief executive of Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Rob Giason, said, “Japanese travel may be in decline to Australia but Cairns remains the number one Australian destination, with 43 percent of the holiday market from Japan choosing Cairns.
“Jetstar’s confidence in Cairns as a destination is a credit to the local tourism industry that has persevered through a very difficult year.
“We are living in the new age of aviation in the modern world as we know it today, relying on strong partnerships and share of risk.â€
Giason said TTNQ and the local tourism industry, together with Cairns Airport and Jetstar, and supported by state and federal governments through Tourism Queensland and Tourism Australia, would work together to market the new service.
