Jetstar passengers angry over technical gaffe
An ABC report says that dozens of angry passengers have criticised Jetstar’s handling of an incident aboard a flight from Bangkok to Melbourne on Thursday night.
A faulty door seal on board the aircraft was said to have caused a loud persistent noise during the flight, with one of the passengers, Benjamin Doudney, saying the ordeal started shortly after take-off.
“This very high-pitched turbine noise just came into my part of the cabin, it was very loud and just an obnoxious sound for the entire flight,” he said.
He says passengers were not given earplugs unless they requested them.
Jetstar spokeswoman Simone Pregellio says the noise affected those near the middle left-hand door but there was no danger.
She says the airline has apologised to the passengers.
“At this stage we’ll [make amends] with our apology, and with a Jetstar voucher,” she said.
The airline says the plane is being checked and was expected to be back in service over the weekend.
