Jetstar suspending Sydney-Christchurch flights
Budget carrier Jetstar is suspending its trans-Tasman service to Christchurch from Sydney.
The final flight leaves on October 14 as the carrier shifts aircraft ‘to better use on routes where there is greater demand within the Qantas Group Network.’
It said the five times a week route has been ‘challenging.’
For tickets booked for travel from October 15 onwards, customers can rebook on to Qantas flights or apply for a refund.
As well as parent Qantas, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand also fly the Sydney-Christchurch route.
Jetstar will continue to operate direct flights from Melbourne and the Gold Coast to Christchurch, as well as Sydney departures to Auckland and Queenstown.
