Jetstar to operate to Kuala Lumpur
Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas subsidiary Jetstar is expected to announce today that he is adding Kuala Lumpur to Jetstar’s list of long haul destinations today, amid talk reported last week in TM that Malaysian low cost carrier AirAsia is planning to launch flights to Australia by the end of the year, reportedly with Jetstar, a report rejected by the Aussie low cost carrier.
With Jetstar’s planned launch of three weekly Sydney to KL flights in September coming when the airline is expected to take delivery of its sixth Airbus 330-200, the route is the airline’s eighth long-haul destination.
Jetstar’s fast growing international network and this new service also adds weight to the growing industry expectation and as reported in TM last year, that Jetstar, will become the major operator of Qantas’ international flights, demonstrated by the KL service being a codeshare with Qantas.
