Jobs rush for Singapore casino resort
SINGAPORE – Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS) has received
close to 20,000 job applications from a four-day Career 2009 job fair held last week with applications continuing to stream in via its website and through the mail.
Interviews for short listed candidates have started as Resorts World at Sentosa ramps up its hiring for both its casino and theme park.
The lure of employment attracted both local and foreign job seekers, fresh graduates, as well as Singaporeans who have been laid-off.
One in every two job applicants indicated interest in working for the resort’s casino, while another 40 percent of applicants said they were interested to join Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park.
There are also more than 400 positions for part-time and full-time crew positions at Universal Studios Singapore.
Depending on the positions, RWS will allocate up to six months for staff training.
Some employees will also be given the opportunity to cut their teeth at Genting-owned casinos and Universal Studios’ Orlando resort.
Resorts World at Sentosa will open early next year.
