As with its hotel redemption options, members will be able to use a combination of points and cash.

It is the first program in mainland China offering non-air redemption for global and local car rental brands.

"Our partnership with Kaligo enables us to deliver world-class redemption options to Fortune Wings Club members," said director of product at Hainan Airlines, Huifang Yuan.

"We are seeing that our program benefits for this innovative booking platform for hotel bookings. Now this car rental redemption’s launch will help our members to enjoy road trips when travelling around the world."

Hainan Airlines has about 18 million loyalty members.

Kaligo’s TravelEdge technology powers many brands’ loyalty platforms across hotels, car rentals, cruises and activities, localised in 22 languages.

"Our TravelEdge technology is growing constantly and we strive to keep discovering new ways of providing customers the best booking experience," said Kaligo CEO Kylie Armstrong.
