Kiwis head back to Fiji
Reports from NZ say that the coup in Fiji is not stopping Kiwis snapping up the cheap deals being offered by the Fiji’s tourism industry post coup.
With discount airfares and as much 50% off accommodation are on offer and heaps of other deals, Flight Centre’s John McGuinness told New Zealand’s Newstalk that they decided to promote Fiji as a destination after the Government downgraded its travel advisory to all areas accept the capital Suva.
Mr McGuiness says people are buying in big numbers and he expects Fiji to bounce back faster than it did after the 2000 coup, to pre coup levels within a couple, of months.
He says at least half of people coming into his stores are enquiring about Fiji and one says one of the main reasons for the renewed interest is that the coup has been non-violent.
