KLIA parteners with SITA for biometric passenger processing
Aviation tech solutions provider SITA has unveiled a new biometric passenger processing system at Kuala Lumpur’s KLIA Main Terminal.
It was recently tested with Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as part of the airport’s 21st anniversary celebrations.
The SITA Smart Path system uses facial recognition ID management tech to automate the passenger journey from check-in to boarding.
After a one-time registration, a passenger’s face becomes their ID with no other documentation required to be seen.
SITA Smart Path integrates into existing airport infrastructure, which includes the standard common-use systems, such as check-in kiosks, self-service gates and boarding procedures.
"We are honoured to be a long-term strategic partner of Malaysia Airports, and pleased to showcase Smart Path. We look forward to the next project with Malaysia Airports as we work together to constantly seek ways to enhance service levels," said Sumesh Patel, SITA President, Asia Pacific.
