Knopek leaves Hertz for new challenge
Tom Knopek has announced he is leaving Hertz to ‘seek a new challenge’.
The car rental industry veteran, who has been given a six month non-compete clause by Hertz, said he ‘has an open mind’ but sees himself working in a small, independent environment rather than a corporate worldwide setting.
Knopek has been managing director, inbound North America at Hertz for two years following eight years at Dollar Thrifty.
Prior to that, Knopek spent nine years with Avis Budget Group, latterly as director of European leisure.
He said: "In my time with Dollar Thrifty I was able to double our revenue, I was also able to reduce costs, an achievement I am very proud of.
"But all good things must come to an end and my time has come, I have decided to call it a day and seek a new challenge."
He added: "I want to try something different and see what it’s like to run my own show, with more say in the development of a business."
