Kolet enables international voice calls over the internet within its eSIM app
Kolet is expanding its universal eSIM offer, previously focused on mobile data, by introducing international calling functionality. Users can now place calls abroad via the app’s dedicated Calls tab, relying solely on an internet connection without using their primary mobile plan or incurring roaming charges.
The company positions this as another step toward a fully integrated global connectivity solution, combining data and voice in a single interface. The launch targets both individual travelers and B2B partners integrating Kolet into their customer journeys, promising a seamless, predictable experience.
Calls are paid using “Koins,” the app’s internal currency (1 Koin = €1). Before placing a call, users see the destination country, per-minute rate, and the maximum call duration based on their balance. Pricing is displayed upfront for each destination, ensuring full transparency and no billing surprises.
The voice service runs on a native internet-based telephony infrastructure embedded in the app, with no need for a secondary number or additional setup. This approach keeps international calls separate from the user’s main mobile line while maintaining a familiar user experience.
A key step for B2B2C travel players
Kolet says it has overcome previous technical limitations that prevented consistent call quality over data without relying on local telecom infrastructure, leveraging a combination of enhanced data networks and cloud-based systems.
By centralizing both data and voice, Kolet aims to position itself as a tech-driven alternative to traditional carrier offerings, helping reduce bill shock associated with international travel. For B2B2C travel companies, adding voice capabilities can strengthen customer support and engagement throughout the trip.
With coverage in more than 190 countries and activation that includes 1GB of free data, the solution is designed to appeal to always-connected travelers while opening the door to new in-app use cases.
Founded in 2024, Kolet operates as a fully digital, B Corp-oriented company. It already partners with major travel brands including Air France-KLM, Kiwi.com, Wego, Exoticca, Omio, MakeMyTrip, Singapore Airlines, Vietnam Airlines and AXA Partners, integrating its eSIM into their customer journeys to ensure connectivity upon arrival.
With the addition of voice, Kolet reinforces its roadmap to manage all traveler communications within a single app, built on simple, easy-to-understand rules.
