Kuoni UK quarterly turnover drops 2.2%
Kuoni group earnings were up by 9.8% in the first nine months of the year to CHF 88.3 million.
Year to date turnover was up from CHF 2,790 million to 3,062 million.
The Swiss operating group expects to report turnover of more than CHF 4 billion, the EBIT result in line with 2005 levels and a net profit of more than CHF 100 million by the year end.
Third quarter turnover for Kuoni UK declined by 2.2%to CHF 172 million.
“Results were further affected by the complex travel formalities imposed in the wake of the thwarted terrorist attack via Heathrow and by a decline in demand from travel to Sri Lanka,” the company said.
Group bookings at November 12 were 10% up year on year with strong Christmas travel demand for the Maldives, Thailand and Africa.
“Booking trends for 2007, while still low, are also an encouraging 14% above their prior year equivalents,” the group said.
The nine-month period to the end of September saw the travel sector face a number of developments and events with which it had no control or influence, including the threat of bird flu, terrorist attacks in Turkey and heightened security in London, Kuoni said.
