Langham looks to China for hotel growth
Langham Hotels is looking to China as its next fast growth market, with a surprising amount of new hotels planned during a recession.
The Hong Kong-based brand just opened a new property in Shanghai, which is their first boutique property housed in a historic Art Deco building.
“As you can see, Langham sees China as a great new market and is investing heavily in the area,” says a spokesperson.
The company plans 20 Langham/Langham Place hotels in the next five years, including:
 The Langham Place Beijing is set to open later this year. The 26-story hotel will have 425 rooms with 29 apartments.
 The Langham Place Beijing, Central Airport Hotel, is due to open this year to become a five-star hotel with a gallery of contemporary art.
 The Langham Designer Hotel is also set to open in the future in Ziamen, two hours from Shanghai.
