Largest convention center ever

Wednesday, 05 Nov, 2004 0

The nation’s capitol will get its largest convention center ever with the news that Gaylord Hotels would build a 400,000-square-foot, 1,500-rom resort and convention center directly on the Potomac River.

“We believe Gaylord National will offer and unmatched entertainment experience to convention and large meetings in the finest location on the Eastern Seaboard,” said Jay D. Sevigny, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Gaylord.

The 41-acre convention site is off the I-295/I-95 interchange, or only 15 minutes from Reagan National Airport.

Typical of Gaylord, the facility will have an 18-story glass atrium offering panoramic views of national monuments, historic landmarks and the Potomac River.

The facility should open in 2008.
