Las Vegas On track, at last
After a series of delays, the Las Vegas Monorail began operations.
The monorail represented the first fully automated line haul, urban monorail rapid transit system in the US, according to officials of Alcatel.
The $650 million, four-mile-long line links nine major Las Vegas resorts with more than 24,000 hotel rooms. It is expected to carry 20 million passengers a day.
The monorail goes up to 50 miles an hour and is operated 20 hours a day.
