Laskarina predicts bumper year for Greece
Specialist Laskarina Holidays is predicting the publicity surrounding the Athens Olympics will lead to a major revival for Greece in 2005 and has increased its selection of properties to the country. Most operators have reported a slump in bookings to Greece in recent years as holidaymakers opt for cheaper alternatives such as the Bulgaria and the Baltics. But Laskarina, which features holidays to the unspoilt islands of Greece, reported a strong 2004 and believes the country can further build on the success of the Olympics. The operator has added the islands of Halki, Lipsi and Alonissos to its programme and has also introduced the secluded island of Kastellorizo for a limited period during the summer. Laskarina managing director Steve Diederich said: “The Olympic flame has certainly stoked up demand for Greece’s islands and we’re anticipating a busy year ahead. “Greece’s headline sponsorship of World Travel Market also helped, especially with the travel trade, fuelling further growth in the market and ensuring that 2004 will certainly be no one-off. “We’ve increased our choice of villas, adding traditional houses and more apartments and we’re experimenting with the enchanting island of Kastellorizo for one of our many special interest holidays.” Laskarina’s package prices start from £385 per person, staying at a villa in Halki.
