Last chance to enter raffle to win exclusive island resort

Sunday, 26 Jul, 2016 0

The draw for an unusual raffle prize of a 16-room Pacific island resort will take place tomorrow.

Over 50,000 people have bought a £38 raffle ticket in the hope of winning the exclusive retreat, Kosrae Nautilus Resort, 3,000 miles southwest of Hawaii.

The resort’s owners, Doug and Sally Beitz, moved to the remote Micronesian island of Kosrae in the 1990s to run the resort. But they now wish to return home to Australia.

Mr Beitz said: "We’ve tried to market it in a way where we are attracting people like ourselves."

The couple has sold 53,000 tickets to people in 150 countries and stands to make over £2 million.

The winner will receive guidance on how to run the resort, which employs 16 full-time staff.

Kosrae, which is 42 sq miles in size, is the second-largest island in Micronesia and is home to 6,000 people. It is reached by flights from Guam and Hawaii.
