Lastminute.com hits 2m unique users a week
Lastminte.com has claimed record users in 2007, with the site attracting two million unique users a week for the first time.
The online retailer, issuing traffic figures for the year to date, said visitor numbers peaked at 2.5 million a week and overall more than 10 million unique users visited the site in 2007 over the previous year.
The company, which marks its 10th anniversary in 2008, also reported that 15% of those people booking flights choose to offset their flights through offsetting scheme carbonwise. This resulted in customers offsetting more than 20,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, according to the company.
Group chief executive Ian McCaig said revebue for the group was at an “all-time high” with all brands – including medhotels and Holiday Autos – achieving record performance this year
Lastminute.com UK managing director John Bevan, speaking at the ABTA Travel Convention in Tenerife, said: “The site has experienced record visitors and bookings following a hugely successful marketing campaign and the launch of our intuitive booking engine.”
Meanwhile, accommodation arm medhotels.com has seen customer complaint levels drop to a claimed industry-leading one per cent, with forward bookings for this winter up by 98%.
Group trade director Carl Burrows said the company’s switch to principal status and expansion into long haul destinations had been a “massive success”.
