Launch of Videos of Green Tourism Businesses in Powys, Wales

Wednesday, 12 Mar, 2013 0

New Media agency Greentraveller Limited and Powys County Council Tourism Services have produced a series of videos featuring green tourism businesses in Powys.

The aim of the videos is to provide potential guests with an insight into the nature of these sustainable tourism businesses, so that they can gain a good understanding of what it would be like to visit them.

Each short-form, high definition video includes an interview with the owners so that they can tell their stories of how they came to run their businesses, their efforts to reduce their impact on the environment, enhance biodiversity, and support their local economy.

The videos also provide an opportunity for the owners to share their knowledge of their local landscape and provide guests with a genuine sense of place.

All of the businesses featured in the videos have been graded by the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the national scheme that is independently validated by the International Centre for Responsible Tourism.

Laura Thomas, Tourism Support Officer North, Powys County Council Tourism Services, said:

"We are thrilled with the work Greentraveller have done so far for us.  The videos are fantastic; each illustrates various reasons why visitors come to Mid Wales.  Sustainable Tourism Powys wanted to give green tourism businesses in Powys the opportunity to showcase all the good work they are doing in becoming a GTBS member and what visitors can expect when they come to stay.”

Richard Hammond, Chief Executive of Greentraveller Limited, says:

"New technologies have allowed short-form high definition videos like these to be produced in a cost-effective manner, and we’re delighted to be able to produce these videos for the benefit of local businesses in Powys.

"One of the stand out features of the videos are the interviews with the owners; hearing their stories of how they came to run their businesses, their connection with their local community, and their obvious pride in their beautiful local landscape in the heart of Wales.

"We hope our ongoing promotion of the videos will help stimulate an increase in bookings to these dedicated, inspirational businesses."
