Launch of Virgin Las Vegas hotel may be delayed
Virgin Hotels is considering delaying the opening of its new Las Vegas property.
According to an internal memo from CEO of JC Hospitality, Richard Bosworth, the opening could be pushed back several weeks.
It was scheduled to open on 15 January 2021, but with current Nevada restrictions reducing casino capacity and gatherings, management expect to push back the start date.
Current restrictions could impact pre-opening operations.
JC Hospitality is the owner of the property which was formerly the Hard Rock Hotel.
Current restrictions are set to last an initial three weeks but could be extended.
Bosworth forecasts a possible February opening depending on the Covid situation by then and any further measures taken by Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak.
The hotel will have 1,500 rooms and suites, which will be part of the Curio Collection by Hilton.
It includes a casino measuring 60,000 square feet handled by Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.
