Lawmakers support 10-year funding extension for Visit Florida
State tourism-marketing agency Visit Florida has support from the Florida senate to extend its life for another 10 years. Senate Commerce and Tourism Chairman Ed Hooper is tabling legislation that would give the agency annual funding through October 1, 2031.
"I have no doubt that compared to 49 other states, we are the shining star (in tourism)" Hooper said.
Visit Florida has faced opposition from lawmakers in recent years and was close to being disbanded in 2020.
Hooper’s legislation will be considered during the 2022 legislative session, starting in January.
