Leger legend bows out of industry
Leger Holidays retail sales director Peter Raynor is to retire this summer.
Raynor, who is well known across the travel industry, has worked in travel for the last 35 years, 23 of them with the Yorkshire-based operator.
Leger will announce shortly who will continue in his shoes.
Said Raynor: “I haven’t always been travel, my career stated in engineering as a design draughtsman – this gave me the opportunity to work in South Africa where I designed tin cans for fruit and sardines which is why I find coach holidays so exciting.
“For the past 35 years I have been in the travel industry, initially as a travel agent in Derby and Leicester, then a sales rep for BMI – BMA in those days – and for the last 28 years in tour operating of which 23 years have been spent at Leger Holidays.
“I will move on with some fantastic memories, in particular the people I have met, then there’s the places I’ve seen, many of which has been linked to business and haven’t cost me a penny. How lucky we are to have such a benefit in our industry. It certainly beats many other jobs.â€
