Life’s a beach in the Big Apple
Florida is bringing some much needed sunshine to winter-weary New Yorkers this month.
Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau has installed the the Big Apple’s first heated bus shelter close to Grand Central, complete with promotions staff in bathing suits handing out sunglasses and free travel cards.
The month-long ‘goodbye chilly, hello sunny’ campaign is timed to coincide with an influx of arriving Superbowl fans from around the country as well as targeting sun-starved New York commuters.
Aside from a local media blitz and strategically placed billboards around the city, big beach party events are planned at the Vanderbilt Hall and JFK Airport’s terminal 5 on January 28 and January 29 respectively.
There will be live entertainment, free flight giveaways and live video streaming from Fort Lauderdale beaches.
The New York campaign lasts until the end of Superbowl weekend.
