Little Red introduces live in-flight entertainment
If your clients are the sort that squirm at the thought of being picked on by stand-up comedians or would sooner stick pins in their ears than listen to live music, you might want to advise them not to take a Little Red flight for the next few weeks.
The Virgin Atantic offshoot will be "treating" passengers to a line up of live in-flight entertainment on flights between London, Manchester and Edinburgh, starting with stand-up comedy this month and following with live music in September.
Some comedians heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival will perform warm-up acts at 30,000 feet, testing out their material on passengers who will provide a captive audience.
In September, the airline will offer a series of acoustic music gigs, paying homage, it says, to "rich music scenes" in Scotland and Manchester.
Acts will be announced through Virgin Atlantic’s Facebook and twitter channels, but flight details will remain a secret – presumably to avoid those passengers who would prefer to sit quietly reading the paper from transferring to another service..
Virgin president Sir Richard Branson said: "We launched Virgin Atlantic Little Red to shake up domestic flying in the UK and this latest activity highlights why our customer service is second to none.
"In true Virgin Atlantic spirit we’re doing something a little different and providing our passengers with a line-up of gigs to ensure we offer a truly unforgettable flying experience on Little Red."
