Liverpool airport to be hit by further strikes
Staff at Liverpool John Lennon Airport are threatening four further strike days later this month and up to eight in October unless they receive an improved pay offer.
The GMB union claims the strikes, which follow walkouts over the August bank holiday and a 12-hour stoppage yesterday, will cause further disruption to passenger flights.
However, UK Aviation News reports that no flights were affected during the last walkout.
The strike involves around 80 members from aviation rescue and firefighting services, the control room, engineering and driver operations and airport bird control.
They have been offered a 2.2% pay rise with a £150 lump sump, but the union is asking for a rise of 3.6%.
The next 12-hour strikes are due to be held on September 13, 19, 24 and 26, starting at 7am. October strike dates are to be confirmed.
