London Bridge attacker’s sister ‘sacked’ by Heathrow
The sister of a terrorist who masterminded the attack in London Bridge is understood to have been sacked from Heathrow after being suspended over security concerns.
Haleema Butt, 28, landed a job at Heathrow two months before her brother Khuram Butt, 27, went on a rampage in London’s Borough Market and, together with two accomplices, killed eight people and injured dozens more before being shot dead by police.
Haleema and her husband Usman Darr, who has worked at the airport for several years, were both suspended after the London Bridge attack as a ‘precaution’. Heathrow launched an investigation in conjunction with police and security services.
It is understood that Haleema has now been sacked, but there is no suggestion that she or her husband are extremists or knew that Butt was planning an attack
His family said in a statement that they ‘strongly condemn’ his actions.
A Heathrow spokesman told MailOnline: ‘Heathrow took appropriate action in close cooperation with the authorities in relation to two colleagues employed at the airport.’
Haleema, a mum-of-two from Harrow, lists her job as ‘secretary’ on her LinkedIn profile.
