London Eye closing for maintenance
The British Airways London Eye is closing for maintenance during January.
The maintenance check, which is carried out on an annual basis, will cause the attraction to be shut between 6 January and 26 January. While maintenance is carried out, the ticket office, shop and cafe will be refurbished.
General manager, David Sharpe said it was traditionally a quiet time of the year.
The BA London Eye originally secured planning permission for five years, but in September planning permission from Lambeth Council was granted for a further 25 years.
Reports in two national newspapers last week suggested that BA could sell its stake in the attraction to another stakeholder, Tussauds. A BA spokesperson said they could not comment on the reports, except to say that the shareholders were in talks about how to re-finance the Eye.
