London is the best place in the world, it’s official

London beat off the likes of New York, Cape Town and Rio de Janeiro to win the title of ‘World’s Leading Destination’ in the World Travel Awards.

 

Hailed as the ‘Oscars of Travel’ by the Wall Street Journal, the awards, which are voted for by travel agents worldwide, are recognised as the ultimate travel accolade.

 

Kuoni was deemed the World’s leading destination management company while the award for the world’s leading marketing campaign went to Yorkshire.

 

ExCel in London, host of this week’s World Travel Market, was voted the World’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre. WTM chairman Fiona Jeffery attended the Grand Final ceremony at the Grovesnor House Hotel on Saturday.

 

Etihad Airways was named ‘World’s Leading Airline’ for the second year in succession,

Singapore‘s Changi scooped the award for the best airport and oneworld was deemed the top airline alliance.

 

Montego Bay in Jamaica was judged the best beach destination, Royal Caribbean the best cruise line, P&O the best ferry operator and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts the leading hotel brand.
