Los Angeles to mandate vaccine passports
Los Angeles will soon require proof of Covid-19 vaccination at indoor venues such as bars, nightclubs, lounges, and other similar businesses.
Los Angeles County is expected to announce the program details soon.
"This is a reasonable path forward that will position us to be better able to break the cycle of surges. This modified health officer order aligns with the continued need to reduce risk of transmission and increase vaccination coverage," said County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer.
Vaccine passports ‘are now a very important strategy for quickly raising vaccination coverage across our county’ she added.
Visitors to large outdoor events will require either vaccine proof or a negative Covid-19 test.
This will be valid for festivals as well as at Los Angeles Rams, Chargers, and Dodgers games.
San Francisco rolled out a vaccine passport mandate last month although plans for a state-wide program for California has been delayed.
