Love leads to surge in mobile app searches
Hotels.com claim searches via its mobile app were up 20% this week as customers looked for last minute Valentine deals.
Sunday 12 February was the busiest day. Venice was the most popular romantic destination this year, as searches increased 138% for a hotel in the city, compared to a 33% increase in searches for Paris and a 28% increase for Rome.
Alison Couper from Hotels.com, said: "This year we have seen a surge in searches just a few days before the big day, showing that people are using the apps to book spontaneous getaways on the go."
