Lowcostbeds banks on growth in Asia

The lowcosttravelgroup has marked the first anniversary in the Asia Pacific region of its trade-focused bed bank, lowcostbeds, by unveiling plans for triple digit growth in sales for 2015.

The rapid growth of the online travel group, now selling in 47 countries with 2.5 million customers annually, has been fuelled by the global expansion of its independent, B2B bed bank, lowcostbeds, which included the opening of offices in Sydney and Bangkok within the last year.

Managing director Asia Pacific for lowcosttravelgroup, Adam Alford, based in Bangkok, said the first year of operations for lowcostbeds had seen key distribution agreements signed with some well-established players in the region, delivering encouraging growth.

"In our first year, we have invested in XML development support as well as our own buyers in Asia, and a greater sales force closer to the market," Alford said.

"Launching in new markets is always challenging but we’re well positioned to grow our footprint in Asia and enhance recognition of our lowcostbeds brand in the industry.

"We’re encouraged by the early signs and we have big plans for the region," he said.

Alford said the group was aiming for triple digit growth in revenue for its second year of operations into 2015, with an enlarged sales presence now accessing more than 4000 retail agencies across the Asia Pacific region.
