Lowcostbeds to tap ‘impulse market’ with daily agent deals
Lowcostbeds is to work on daily deals for travel agents after admitting it hasn’t been quick enough to tap into the ‘impulse buy’ market.
Michelle Brackstone has been promoted to the role of head of late sales, in order to drive the new ‘daily deals’ that the company plans to promote and sell through the trade.
Paul Riches, lowcosttravelgroup group director of sales, said: "The market has changed considerably and many sales are now made as an ‘impulse buy’, driven through the emergence of even more ‘deal led’ websites.
"We have not been quick enough to react to this in the past few months but Michelle’s new appointment will improve our ability to work with trade partners on daily deals."
The company has also strengthened its long-haul buying team as it announces new programmes to South America, Hawaii, Kenya, Gambia, Maldives and Mauritius.
Steve Silver, who has been appointed senior long haul buyer, previously worked at Complete Orlando Holidays and Funway Holidays and brings experience in buying within the USA, Middle East and Far East markets.
Riches added: "We have quickly established ourselves within the long haul market and this new appointment will allow us to rapidly expand the number of directly contracted hotels that we offer."
The company said Antigua sales are up 200% and St Lucia is up 140% year on year while Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are up more than 126% in the last three months.
